Ok, admittedly exercise isn’t a spiritual discipline. But having worked with pastors and ministry leaders for a long time, I am convinced that it is a game-changer when it comes to productivity. When I worked in ministry, it was all too easy to eat poorly as I was out on visitations or just having various meetings. When I was a youth pastor, all those pizza parties started to really add up into a major problem.
The evidence shows again and again that eating the wrong food affects our moods, energy levels and productivity. I am a firm believer that one of the reasons we see such high burnout rates among those in ministry is that leaders simply don’t have enough time (or energy) to carve out time to exercise. Getting to the gym is tough. If you have kids, it becomes even more complicated.
I started Ministry Assistant Services to solve problems like this one. I want to make sure you have enough time in your schedule to take care of you. I want you to be physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually restored so you can get back to the important work of pouring into others. My team of Christian virtual assistants can help you carve out the time you need in your day.
*You can hire a virtual assistant right now by going here*
Even though they work remotely, virtual assistants can easily integrate into your church or ministry. They can oversee all sorts of tasks that are sucking up your time–time that can be used in getting you ready for the demanding tasks of ministry. We love taking care of the details for you.
And since Ministry Assistant Services are all about productivity and helping you thrive in ministry, I wanted to give you some practical tools to help jumpstart your health. I have personally used these and was able to shed over 20 lbs. in just a few months. Here is what I’ve found helpful:
1) Darebee.com
This website is great. The exercises require no equipment (so bodyweight exercising only). Most of the routines can be done in about 20 minutes. That is no time at all! Plus they have amazing 30 day exercise plans that show you what to do. All of this material would normally cost quite a bit of money but Darebee offers it for free. They even have videos to show you how to do the exercises. I started with the “30 Days of Change” plan, but if you want to get really simple, you can use the “Foundations” course.
2) MapMyWalk App
I love this app and have been using it for years to keep track of the amount of miles I walk. I am not a big runner (I’ve got bad knees) but walking is one of the most superb things you can do for your body. Not only is it great to get outdoors, but I have found it incredibly easy to burn 300+ calories in just a few minutes. Time really flies while walking.
Interestingly, I also have found that many solutions to problems come to me while walking. There is some scientific evidence that shows that creativity and walking are linked together. So not only does it improve my health, but it also improves my productivity.
3) Slow-Carb Diet
Look, I am not advocating that you should only do this diet. But I also know that you cannot outrun your fork. However, I have found this to be super helpful for me personally because the rules are simple, I get a cheat day, the food is filling and it requires virtually no preparation. I’ll leave you to read more on it, but the slow-carb diet has been a game changer to me and I think it could help you as well. If you want all the details on how to do it properly you can check out this helpful link.
Also, my team of VA’s can help you put together your grocery list and order the food online for you–just sayin’.
4) Kettlebell Swings
Real talk: this exercise wrecks me because it works every muscle. What is even better is that for the cost of a 35 lbs. kettlebell, you will notice everything else in your body becoming more and more toned. The exercise is simple and effective. Swing a kettlebell for 10-20 minutes a day and you’ll notice a change in every aspect of your body.
Why are you talking about this?
